The birth of Liliana- Reading Hospital
This was one of those births I knew would be fast so I wasn’t waiting at all before heading to this birth. On march 7th I got a text saying she thought she lost her bloody show so I was very prepared for labor to begin within the next 24 hours. I went to bed that night and gave everyone a heads up that I would probably be leaving for a birth that night. Checked my phone probably every hour to make sure I wasn’t missing any texts.
Then 7 am came and I woke up and thought hmmm no baby yet! Texted my sitter and was like guess not yet. No more than 20 minutes after I said not yet I got a message asking how to determine what a contraction felt like, and I knew it was go time. I decided I was getting ready to go because at almost 40 weeks and a previous labor that was under 6 hours I wasn’t wasting any time!
At 8:30 am she told me the contractions were 7-8 minutes apart and slowed down since she got out of bed. She decided to call her OB and they told her to go to triage. Typically I would wait to see how triage went before heading over to the hospital. But with a fast previous labor and me being an an hour and a half away I was going now!
My ETA for the hospital was 11:15 am, at 10:30 I was updated that she was already 7cm. Phew, I hope I make it, those second babies wait for NOONE. I safely arrived to the hospital and she had already received her epidural but was feeling intense pressure. After a little while her bulging bag popped and relieved some pressure. Soon enough it was time to push. Literally like two pushed later and their baby girl was crowning. I think that was the fasted I have ever seen someone push their baby out for sure.
Reading hospital was seriously so amazing, they waited a bit before clamping the cord and she got over an hour of completely uninterrupted skin to skin after the birth.
