There are SO many reasons why to hire a professional birth photographer but I am going to go through some that are less of a first thought. There are so many perks. Your husband/ partner can be fully present in the moment and not worry about taking photos with a cell phone that may or may not come out clear. Memories fade and you want to remember this moment forever. So you have photos with Dads reaction as well!

A professional BIRTH photographer knows how to handle all lighting conditions. You want to birth in a dark room with no lights on? I can work with that and you’ll still get high quality images that you wouldn’t with a cell phone. But let’s dig a little deeper!

1.) “I wish I had professional photos of my births”
I can’t tell you how many times I have heard these words. I too felt that way with my first births where I didn’t have many photos. What I realized is SO much goes on that you are unaware of in the moment. The way your partner supported you, your reaction, your husbands reaction, all the details on your baby. These are memories you want to save forever

2.) It’s like a blind date where you know you’ll meet a true love.
You are about to meet one of the loves of you life, it’s just like a blind date. You don’t know what they will look like you just know this will be the start of a forever love. If you had the option to have photos of the moment you first met your husband/partner wouldn’t you cherish those photos forever.

3. YOU ARE STRONG AND BEAUTIFUL

Women go through a LOT to bring their babies into this world. Whether by planned cesarean, unexpected cesarean, unmedicated or medicated birth the journey is tough and a true tribute to unconditional love and strength. I personally LOVE all the photos that show what a women goes through to bring their baby into the world. The moments when you think you cant possibly go through any more and you do! You push past that and meet the person who you have already shown this unconditional for.

4. You hired a professional for your wedding to capture every detail- why not the moment you and your partner brought new life into this world
While birth is very different from a wedding, you wont be getting all dressed up, wont be having your makeup done. In many ways it is the same. During a wedding you and your partner are beginning a new life together. When bringing a baby into the world you and your partner are beginning a new stage of life, raising the life you made together.

5.) The value of birth photography often isn’t understood till AFTER the birth.

I’ve worked with several families over the years and one thing I notice is often men, and sometimes women don’t understand the true value until after the birth. Some dads are like I can take photos of you! Then right after the moment they say to me “there was no way I could have taken photos AND been there to support her.”
I want you to be able to completely immerse yourself in this incredible experience and be able to document all of it for you. There is nothing better than seeing your partners reaction when your baby was born!
